JOB TITLE: Hepatocyte Cell Biologist

LOCATION:  Rochester, MN

REPORTS TO: COO

POSITION SUMMARY

The Hepatocyte Cell Biologist will serve as a research team leader in the area of Liver and Hepatocyte Biology.  This individual will be responsible for the development, refinement, and standardization of methods regarding isolation of hepatocytes from primary tissue, in vitro testing and handling of hepatocytes, and cryopreservation and reanimation of hepatocytes. Knowledge of general laboratory techniques is expected from a well-qualified candidate, including cell separation, cell culture, PCR, RT-PCR and ELISA development for research targets.  A strong independent work ethic and good communication skills are required. The individual will also be responsible for managing the laboratory and directing a small team to meet operational and developmental goals.         

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research team lead
  • Develop, refine and standardize methods of isolation of hepatocytes from primary tissue
  • In vitro culture, testing and handling of hepatocytes
  • Cryopreservation and reanimation
  • Assist in other aspects of the company’s business as needed

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Laboratory staff as they are added to the company

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • PhD in Cell Biology or a related field required
  • Two or more years in a liver-focused post-doctoral academic or related industry experience
  • Strong independent publication and grant writing history is preferred
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Some travel may be required
  • Normal office / laboratory / animal facility environment
  • Moderate exertion when handling animals or large specimens. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
